Richard Unveils Well-Being Pillar of Purpose Builder Program with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago Partnership

Multi-Year Initiative Features 2026 Playground Safety Project, STEM Education Support, and Community Health Advocacy

CHICAGO, July 9, 2025 – Richard today announced the well-being pillar of its Purpose Builder Program through a comprehensive partnership with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Building on the company's April 2025 program launch with Habitat for Humanity, this latest initiative leverages Richard's expertise as the nation's third-largest federal healthcare builder to address playground safety and child wellness.

"Our Purpose Builder Program asks 'why' with every project we win, and our Lurie Children's partnership answers that question through direct action for Chicago's kids," said Jed Richard, CEO of Richard. "We've spent years building world-class healthcare facilities for our veterans. Now we're channeling that same expertise to create safer spaces where children can play, learn, and thrive."

Vice-President, Corporate Partnerships, T.J. Johnson said “We are incredibly grateful for Richard’s generous commitment to Lurie Children’s as the chosen partner of their Well-Being Pillar of their Purpose Builder program. This support will provide pertinent resources to our families both within our hospital walls and beyond, exemplifying our mission of providing care to every child.”

Program Highlights

2025 Initiatives include a Purpose Builder Day at Lurie's STEM summer camp in July, where kids receive custom Richard hard hats, LEGO sets, and safety vests. The company will also sponsor Sickle Cell Awareness Month and participate in the Corporate Cup Challenge and ProAm Golf activities.

2026 Signature Project features construction of a new playground designed with the Patrick M. Magoon Institute for Healthy Communities as part of Lurie Children’s "Beyond These Hospital Walls" program. Addressing the reality that many children visit the hospital due to playground accidents, Richard will apply its construction expertise to build a safer playground in Chicago following site selection.

The partnership represents the well-being pillar of Richard's three-part Purpose Builder Program, which focuses on community, well-being, and sustainability through the company's "for every project won, we give back" model.
