CATHETERIZATION AND ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY LABORATORY

PURPOSE

This project aimed to support the healthcare community by constructing a state-of-the-art Electrophysiology Lab (EP Lab) in Houston, Texas. The new lab enhances the hospital’s ability to diagnose and treat heart rhythm disorders, using advanced technology to improve patient outcomes and support cutting-edge medical care.

Project Challenges

Renovating the EP Lab within an active hospital required maintaining strict infection control and minimizing disruption to surrounding areas. The project involved upgrading MEP systems, including the installation of a new HVAC system, and lining walls, doors, and hardware to meet radiation safety standards, all while ensuring the hospital remained fully operational.

Project outcome

Richard successfully delivered a cutting-edge EP Lab with zero impact on adjacent areas, providing the hospital with the latest diagnostic technology for heart rhythm treatments. The renovation exemplifies Richard’s commitment to advancing healthcare through innovative construction solutions that directly benefit patient care and wellbeing.

“We learned so much during the Catheterization and Electrophysiology (EP) Laboratory renovation at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston. It was a big job with much at stake for the staff and patients. Our team took that responsibility very seriously and worked tirelessly to make sure the facility never had to shut down.”
