LOVELL COMMUNITY LIVING CENTER
CLIENT: Captain James A. Lovell FHCC
LOCATION: North Chicago, IL
PROJECT STATUS: Completed November 2024
PURPOSE:
Renovation of Wings C & A at the Community Living Center, James A. Lovell FHCC, to expand care capacity for elderly veterans.
Add 12 new beds plus utility, administrative, and public spaces while maintaining uninterrupted access to the facility for patients.
Richard recently completed the renovation of Wing C and partial renovation of Wing A at the Community Living Center, James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center. This project expanded the CLC by adding space for 12 new beds as well as utility, administration, and public areas; including kitchen, dining, den, bathroom, office, and maintenance spaces. Features like patient lift systems, nurse call stations, oxygen gas piping, and therapy bathtubs were installed to accompany these new areas. To maintain critical hospital operations and uninterrupted patient care throughout construction, our team built temporary hallways that preserved full access to the occupied hospital and its existing facilities. This project also included the installation of a new 50,000 CFM rooftop AHU supported by structural steel decking. Work was completed in November 2024 and the renovated wings now serve elderly veterans requiring round‑the‑clock and end‑of‑life care.
