PHARMACEUTICAL WAREHOUSE RENOVATION
Purpose
This project involves the renovation of 24,552 SF at the Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) Warehouse in Hines, IL. The work includes upgrades to fire suppression systems, employee egress, and storage areas, as well as the installation of a new speed lane gate to enhance operational efficiency and safety. These improvements support the timely delivery of critical prescriptions to veterans by expanding storage capacity, modernizing safety systems, and optimizing overall warehouse performance.
Project Challenges
Active 24/7 facility: Construction had to proceed without disrupting ongoing warehouse operations.
Complex logistics: A rooftop unit was lifted and installed in the center of the facility by helicopter. This method was selected as safer and less disruptive than using a large crane, which would have taken longer and impacted parking and staff access.
Careful coordination: Work sequencing was critical to keep staff safe and daily functions running smoothly.
Project Outcome
On time. On budget: Project was completed ahead of schedule with minimal change orders.
Enhanced operations: Staff gained improved storage, temperature control, secure access control with speed lane consoles and safer exit routes.
Positive client feedback: CMOP staff praised the upgrades and expressed interest in future collaboration.
